A quick, non-technical, overview of the history of this important site. Clearly intended as a basic text for visitors to the site it's nonetheless worth reading for the "armchair archaeologist". But don't stop with just this book: not only is it a bit dated but it's far from complete even within the timeframe of coverage. Even better, visit the actual site. Like many things, Moundville is best experienced in-person. This would be a good preparatory text for such a visit or to put in context some of what you're seeing.
What a great little book! My wife went here in 1988, and really enjoyed the tour. We would like to go back.
